"New Version Creuzfeld Jacob Disease" (nvCJD) was revealed by the UK government in 1996. Some say it contributed to the Conservative defeat in 1997. At the time, worst case scenarios had 10 million people being infected and succumbing over 50 years.

WI the worst case was now starting be being born out with 100,000-200,000 of all ages, classes, intellects and sexes dying per year of sudden loss of memory, creeping paralysis and certain death within one year? Could the health & care system manage? Would euthenasia be legalised?
Would it be the end of the UK, or no real impact? What would be the repurcussions in Europe & the world, if any?
