The Confederate States of America that abolishes slavery in 1854, dominates the Caribbean, colonizes Asia and Africa and still manages to remain unconquered by the United States.

Then there's the version of Germany being unified by Bavaria...okay, that would actually be a cool POD.

The Domination of Draka

The Domination of draka is a reactionary stagnant and racist society. It even has slavery well into the 20th century and any attempts by ex-slaves to get more rights has been supressed. The Drakan government is militaristic and authoritarian with many fascist tendacies. Many nazi leaders after WWII managed to escape to the domination one of the escapees was Fuhrer Goebbels.

agreed, especially when they are able to contain the whole continent in a matter of a few years........either that or the Nazi America Bull Shit....

in my TL which I"m working on it takes the settlers and later draka from 1650's until 1868 to take the continent of africa.

Worst as in most implausible, Draka. This is bizarre and impossible. Clearly the result of a failure to bother to even look at the geography of Africa.

you're talking about the impossible stirling TL. In a more realistic TL the most the drakans could get is africa,madagascar and ceylon.

I used to be on the "Stirling Sucks" bandwagon too. I agree with you his Draka AH has huge logic holes. Cant speak for the geography angle but I can speak on the military technology. I find it hard to swallow that the rest of the world wouldnt adopt Draka technology and training programs. Even worse, there are hints that at least one nation (the USA) picked up some Draka tech and then dropped it (remember the Civil War armored cars?). None of this makes no sense. Technology tends to spread around once the world knows of it.

Thats said, Ive come to like his timeline anyhow. He wasnt really trying to build a plausible AH as he was trying to concentrate the worst of Western civilization in one place and work out where it would lead. If you look at his Draka works through that prism theyre not that bad.

I understand that the timeline is impossible, but is the actual Draka series good, writing wise?

If we're going for "worst alternate history country" as in "most evil", than that's got to be something like Nazi Europe, in the USSR in a timeline I'm trying to get to work (Einstein and his cronies become socialists early in life, and emigrate to the USSR instead of the USA. The USSR gains a nuclear bomb in '44, and the USA's program is stunted. The world eventually falls to communism.).

Stirling's AH is pure idiocy. There is no way that in less than 50 years they'd own all of africa. That is why I have the settlement beginnning ealrier in the 1650's. Despite the earlier settlement it takes them until the late 1860's to get all of africa. The whole military tech thing is pure garbage also.

What about that one where Britain's American colonies revolt and end up becoming a huge global hyperpower answerable to no one where the leader is treated with almost religious reverence despite the fact that he has the intellectual capabilities of a piece of toast?
