Rise of Reds (Russia Victory)

Here we are. Rise of the Reds, Russian victory.
rotr map russia victory.png

  • The premise here is that Russia was able to defeat the ECA quickly before US forces could arrive en masse. Also, a separate war broke out between China and the US, the strain of total war causing both sides to fall into civil war, which Russia exploited to the fullest extent. Moscow has since annexed the lands of the former Soviet Union, plus Finland and Alaska, and has reformed itself into the Eurasian Federation, the world's sole hyperpower.
  • Eurasia is essentially a new Russian Empire, but better than the one the Tsars ruled - Suvurov's reforms have cleaned up the economy and wealth does trickle down the the people on the street. Interestingly, Eurasia is somewhat democratic with guarantees for dissidents, such as stringent protections for freedom of speech and assembly, but they are ultimately irrelevant, as Suvurov does not plan on holding elections anytime soon.
  • The ECA and the US have both been shattered into tiny pieces, and the Western style of democracy is essentially dead. The United States itself is still around, but reduced to a rump state centered on the Rust Belt, and addled with urban decay, economic recession, rampant crime and drug use, and political corruption - not too much unlike Russia during the Yeltsin years.
  • The Chinese Communist Party has been forcefully removed from power, and Eurasia is now working with the new Chinese Union State to "deprogarm" the Modern Way out of the Chinese populace. Port Arthur has also been reannexed to serve as a Russian Pacific base - which has triggered Japan to amend their constitution to allow them an official military again.
  • South America has unified under Brazilian rule and is thinking of becoming the next United States, and India is considering breaking away from the Eurasian sphere.
  • Eurasia is content with letting Africa govern itself, taking an advisory approach in combating the GLA.
  • General Aleksandr, the hero of the war who won victory after victory in Europe, has very different vision for what the Russian people should do with the victory he gave them. Aleksandr believes that his victory is one that reverses the humiliations and setbacks that Russia has suffered for a century, and now that final victory is here, Russia should reap the rewards fully. The Russians have proved themselves the superior civilization, and thus are entitled to whatever they can take from the rest of the world. Those that oppose the Russian people should be crushed underfoot, and if they are not, then the Russian people themselves have lost the right to rule.
  • Aleksandr's faction was wide support from many Eurasian army units, and should they decide to take action to "save Russia from itself"... oh boy.

Rise of Reds (GLA Victory)

Finial Rise of the Reds map. This is the Global Liberation Army victory.
rotr gla victory map.png

  • The GLA simply sat out of the war and let the superpowers clobber themselves whilst rebuilding its power. Europe and Russia eventually became exhausted from the conflict and started breaking apart, with Aleksandr's Novorossiya faction and various new Eurosceptic groups leading to the collapse of both Russia and the ECA. The war between America and China led to the collapse of the People's Republic of China, and while the Americans tried to establish peace in the region, they eventually gave up.
  • The GLA itself has broken into three major groups - the GLA proper, the Islamists and the far-leftists.
  • The GLA proper consists of "The Zone" (the dark blue entity in the Congo) and the GLA's affiliates (the lighter blue nations around it). Led by the warlord Sulaymaan, they have managed to turn their corner of the world into a warrior's paradise, although one that is far from being under Sulaymaan's control. after all, war is expensive if you're buying guns and not selling them.
  • In dark green, we have the Islamist GLA factions, of which the most prominent is the Islamic State (darkest green). The Islamic State now considers itself the rightful leader of the Islamic world and is trying to bring the other Muslim states. most notably Iran, to heel. However, many of the jihadist states do not recognise Raqqa's "caliph", and would much rather be independent or take charge themselves.
  • In dark red we have the far-left and communist factions of the GLA, attempting to spread the revolution in Latin America, southern Europe, Russia, southern Africa and southern Asia. In response to the refugee crisis this created, and as an anti-communist counter, most of the former ECA has turned to fascism and other far-right ideologies. For example, Germany is under the control of a neo-Nazi regime.
  • The darkest red shade belongs to the Brotherhood of Nod, probably the scariest faction of them all. Nod is a cult of personality revolving around their messianic leader, Kane, whose proclamations, and the Brotherhood's ideology is a vague mix of anti-authoritarian, anti-establishment sentiment, a desire to bring an end to war on Earth by uniting it under Nod, and apocalyptic End Times pseudo-theology. Kane predicts that a meteor will hit the Earth and cause great change in the world, and only the Brotherhood can survive.
  • Russia is stuck in a civil war between Aleksandr's Novorossiya faction and the central government. Although President Suvurov is long dead, Aleksandr struggles to maintain the loyalty of his troops, and every day his army inches closer to splintering.
  • China has found itself under the control of a neo-Legalist regime that has fused the Modern Way with Legalism to create a horrific regime that seeks to create a collective consciousness. So far, this has not manifested as some sort of technologically-imposed hive mind, but rather the imposition of the more Orwellian aspects of the Modern Way onto the Chinese people.
  • The cracks in the American political system are starting to show. There are five political parties active, with no president having won the popular vote in nearly a decade, and two of those presidents were one-termers. Over a dozen congressmen have been killed by political radicals or GLA operatives, and the Supreme Court remains at seven justices because nobody could agree on a good replacement for the two killed during the August 8 bombing. Far-left and far-right groups openly brawl in the streets, with these riots often ending in death. Draconian attempts by the American deep state to maintain control have backfired, as leakers and hackers have compromised these systems and have only made the federal government even more unpopular. The economy has remained stagnant at best for the last decade, and millions of Americans are open to any change at any cost.

And how about the sequel as of 2080?

The War That Came Early
The War That Came Early.png

This here is the geopolitical situation (I think?) of the third book (The Big Switch) of Turtledove's The War That Came Early series.

Yes. That is Poland, the UK, France and Spain helping the Germans overrun Russia. And the Russians are straight out of a war with Japan (that they sorta-lost).

Oh god.

The Years of Rice and Salt (1333 AH/1915 AD)
YearofRiceandSalt.png

The Year of Rice and Salt is an alternate history novel by Kim Stanley Robinson, where a mutation of the Black Death caused 99% of the Europe population to die out, and is repopulated by Muslims from North Africa and the Middle East. Eventually, New states are formed by these Muslim settlers in Europe. China would see itself expands across Asia conquering Japan and Siberia and soon colonizers other regions such as Australia. Several people from Japan would flee and accidentally discover North America meeting with the Iroquois, who warn them of the incoming Chinese and Muslims coming from the coast. The Iroquois would soon unite most of the North American tribes while China colonize the West Coast and the Muslims colonized the East Coast. In the south of India, the Travancori League rises as a regional power and soon colonize parts of Australia and Southern Africa. By the time this map takes place in 1333 AH (1915 AD) a conflict known as the Long War is about to start.

The Only Thing to Fear
capture.png

A WorldA cover I made a while back of my introduction to AH: The Only Thing to Fear by Caroline T Richmond. Basic premise is that the Germans create a working super soldier program, which is replicated by the Japanese and Soviets. Essentially, it's Man in the High Castle with the Soviets as a third power. It's pretty ASB and far from the best AH, but I figured it's a published work and I have it lying around, so might as well give it another home, seeing how it meets the criteria. I can add the key back in if y'all want.

Current year at the time of this map is 2025
