A world without Mormons?
It's interesting to me, as a Mormon, to see what other people would miss or be glad to be rid of about us. About the ethical and moral status of a Mormon-less world, ultimately it comes down to what you view as a "better" or "worse" world. I could see arguments going either way.
For me personally, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't exist without Mormonism. Conversion to Mormonism was the primary reason why two different lines of my ancestors left two different countries in Europe to come to the United States. Without Mormonism, there would have been no opportunity for my Swedish ancestors to meet my English ancestors, and my grandfather would never have been born.
But, apart from a spate of such demographic changes in the population, I doubt there would be a great deal of broad-scale changes. Surely, the West would develop differently, and the state boundaries would likely be different, but, I don't see much opportunity for far-reaching butterflies beyond that.
