World War one : WI Belgium King Albert 1 is caught by Germans ?

As Germans invade Belgium in 1914
Belgium King Albert 1 went as commander-in-chief into Battle with Belgium Army
after Siege Of Antwerp the Belgium and British BEF unit fled south west direction of Ypres in October 1914.
also King Albert 1 manage to get Ypres after he was separate from his entourage.

But what if King Albert 1 got caught by Germans Army on way to Ypres ?
He will be arrested and carried off to German Empire
Will we have a 1914 a Analog what happening to King Leopold III during World War 2 ?
and will Belgium survive this after World War 1 ?

Arrested? On what charges? If the Germans do that, they give the Allies justification for arresting the Kaiser if the Germans happen to lose the war.

Any peace treaty thus obtained, would be null and void anyway.

I don't think that they would arrest him. They have to at least keep up the appearance of civility. They had already violated his neutral country, arresting him would be like the mugger suing the victim. This might make it less likely anyone would deal with Germany with anything less than an unconditional surrender. No one would trust their word.

More likely if they wanted to keep him in place they would keep him under an unofficial house arrest, for his safety of course. One of his mansions, restrict his movement for his safety.

Cant they (and have to anyway legally) treat him as a POW just another Belgium officer ? (even if of rather high rank)

How did the Germans capture King Albert? Was the king really stupid enough to get himself caught in German occupied, besieged or soon to be captured parts of Belgium? Or, did he get himself captured shortly before, during or after Ypres? [Very likely the battle of Ypres without the king and orders maintained could be a defeat for the Belgians, who would lose all their homeland in this case.]

The Story so far i know

The German Empire demand Free passage of there Army true Belgium
Belgium King Albert 1 refused, Belgium was neutral do two Treaty the sign with Britain and France in 1839 and 1848
On 2. August 1914 The German Empire gave Belgium a Ultimatum.
Demanding declaration of Belgium government to stay passive during passage of German Army. they refused
on 4 August the German Army invade Neutral Belgium without declaration of War.
until the 18 August the Germans Army conquers Liege, Namur and Brussel the capitol
what left of Belgium army under command of King Albert 1 went to Fortress of Antwerp, what let to siege of Antwerp city by German Army.

On 25 and 26. August, then on 8 until 13. September 1914 King Albert let Personally ! two attacks against Germans Troops
One POD were he could be Capture by Germans forces
Oktober 4 the German Army break true and start conquers Antwerp city
On October 6 King Albert 1 give the Evacuation order, the Belgium government try to get to Oostende, while Belgium Army and British BEF brake true German encirclement
During chaos King Albert 1 was separate of his entourage. he and two adjutant went on horse direction to Oostende
another POD were he could be Capture by Germans forces
He reach Oostende but had to move to Ypres as the Germans advance further

Of curse he will be arrested, if get caught. he is a Military, at first they will threat him as POW until some one figure out who really is!

The German Army generalissimos demanded reprisal because Belgium refusal and Fight against German Army
what let to a series of Massacre, the city of Leuven, Dinat and Aarschot was pillage and threaten to burn, this was later called the "Rape of Belgium"
having King Albert 1 as POW would be generalissimos triumph

It very likely he is put under house arrest in German Empire and likely to used as mean extortion of Belgium and British Government, see King Albert 1 is related to British royals !
under this situation is realistic that Belgium Government surrendered to German Empire

makes you wonder though how things could be different

irl leopold 1(grandfather of albert 1) his english wife died if she survived she may have become queen of england instead of victoria when her father died and he probably would become prince consort, huge butterfly here no victorian age ?
