First of all, apologies if this question has been posted recently. I tried the Search function, but I couldn't find anything related to what I wanted to find out.

By the time Germany surrendered on 11 November 1918 it was in dire straights. The Allied blockade was starving it, its allies had surrendered and it's forces were being driven out of France and Belgium and into Germany. The German government and high command were obviously aware of all this, hence the surrender. However, immediately afterwards, or at least after Versailles, there was a lot of resentment in Germany about the way the war ended, leading to the "Dolchstosslegende" and the rise of a certain Austrian (it wasn't the only reason, but a significant one nonetheless). After all, at the time of the Armistice Germany still occupied large swatchs of Eastern Europe.

So what I'd like to know is how long could Germany conceivably have been able to last until the Allied armies would be knocking at Berlin? How would the Allied occupation of the German Empire be arranged? Would seeing the German Army crumble and disintegrate be enough to kill the "Dolchstosslegende" in its cradle, or would there still be revanchism?
