Hello fellow alt-historians,

You might have seen my post regarding the Holy Britannian Empire in my World of Nightrise project.

On this map, I have depicted london as it was in the County of London (OTL 1889-1965; TTL 1869-present*), however, given that the "modern day" year in which the world of nightrise maps are usually depicted as (the project covers the years 1852-1972) is 1972, which technology-wise is set in the 2020 (Although Britannia will be stuck in between the 1970s and late 1990s due to their isolation), I've come to ask whether I should change the boundaries of London accordingly to a grown city.

This is a map I've prepared as a visual support to describe the current (current as in OOC-wise) situation of London. Red is the 'current' boundary of the London County as it was created in 1869. The dark borders are the county borders depicting the counties of Middlesex, Essex, Kent, Hertfordshire, Berkshire, Surrey and the City County of the London Opened Harbour Territories. Additionally, the City of London County is shown in the center of the London County.
The light borders depict the districts and boroughs of OTL Greater London.
the dark shade are the counties' areas outside of OTL Greater London. The grey shade shows the area of Greater London (with the exception of the City County of the London Opened Harbour Territories) while the lightest grey shows the london county.

Since I am eye-candy biased and know little to nothing about London, I am asking you guys (especially the Londoners/British) on how to question these answers:

- Should London be enlargened during the timespan of 1869-1972?
- Should I just take the Greater London Boundaries?
- If yes, why?
- If no, which districts should I choose for the 1972 status to add into London?
- Should London's territorial history be like in OTL (it will be given all these territories in one central treaty)?
- If yes, why?
- If no, How and when should London annex which districts? Which should it annex first?

Additionally:
- Which areas do you think will become 'ghettos'/semi-abandoned districts?

Few notices to consider:
- the POD of Nightrise is 1852.
- Britain is isolationist since the 1860s/1870s.
- Their society is extremely orwellian.
- Their economy is very liberal (within the country's boundaries)
- While there are magical beings in Nightrise, the HBE is an anti-metahuman state which means that most are expelled or are settled into certain districts (usually near the opened city territories or away from the "proper city".
- while areas that have the darker grey shade should not be taken from, the harbour territory that has the stripes can be freely added to the "annex" list.

I am excited to see the results of this thread.

1 - Should London be enlargened during the timespan of 1869-1972?
2 - Should I just take the Greater London Boundaries?
2a - If yes, why?
2b - If no, which districts should I choose for the 1972 status to add into London?
3 - Should London's territorial history be like in OTL (it will be given all these territories in one central treaty)?
3a - If yes, why?
3b - If no, How and when should London annex which districts? Which should it annex first?
1 - Yes.
1a - because there will still be urban and suburban growth that needs reflecting in local politics
2 - maybe. You'll need to look up how London grew OTL to see what stays the same and what is different.
3 - this relates to 2. Essentially if growth is the same as OTL then the same districts will be consolidated. However, when will depend on the politics of reforming local government.
