WIthout the US, what happens to the Holy Roman Empire?

After the US gained it's independence as a result of French aid, the French, inspired by the successful revolution and it's liberal ideas and infuriated with France's basket case economy, rose up against King Louis XVI, guillotined him and installed a republic. After attempted invasions by France's neighbours and a period of disorder and weak regimes, Napoleon Bonaparte rose to power. During his conquests, Napoleon destroyed the Holy Roman Empire, transforming part of it into the Confederation of the Rhine and tearing down the old systems which the Empire had instituted. Napoleon's actions resulted in the rise of German nationalism and eventually, the unification of Germany in 1871.

So, the US gaining independence, by way of a causality effect, destroyed the Holy Roman Empire.

So, if the American Revolution either never happened or was crushed, what happens to the Holy Roman Empire?

Since I know people are going to ask, here are the PODs I have chosen for the American Revolution either failing or being crushed. I'm sure others will chime in with their own PODs.

  • The Proclamation Act, an act which would've given the American colonies a degree of autonomy while remaining loyal to the British Crown, is not defeated in the House of Lords.
  • The Boston Tea Party never happens and as a result, the Intolerable Acts are never forced upon Massachusetts.
  • General John Burgoyne defeats Horatio Gates and Benedict Arnold at Saratoga.
  • Benedict Arnold successfully gives the plans for West Point to the British, allowing the British to cut the colonies in half.
