Without the October Revolution how long could the Russian Republic stay united?

The assumption that I get is that a democratic Russia in its general pre-1914 borders wouldn’t last very long before ethnic separatism gains political momentum, ultimately balkanizing the former empire into roughly the post-Soviet republics we know today?

Would this have likely been the case?

Maybe.. Maybe not..

Poland.. Sure.. Ukraine.. Quite possible. Belarus? Quite unsure... While there was some thoughts to independence, for the most part I have to say I doubt it, however Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia are sure gone followed by Finland.

Now would the stans and causes bail? Again, not so sure.

This all depends on how the Russian government reacts to squash seperateism, I also doubt most of the world is going to jump in on it either if it's a "republic"
