With My Cold Hands

It had been a very strange year. The United States had become a Fascist nation, after a coup lead by Macarthur in 1934. By 1936, the United States had become fully Fascist, and had begun to massively militarize, with the claim it was to revitalize the economy. In reality, plans had been to seize Mexico, Canada, and later on, the Soviet Union.

In this same year of 1936, a woman commonly known as the, "Iron Lady," fully consolidated her power in the Soviet Union. Her rise had started in the Russian Civil War, when she saved the life of Vladimir Lenin from a Reactionary Assassin. Since then, she had risen through the ranks of the political party in the Soviet Union. In some ways through subterfuge, other times through charisma. Regardless, she had an uphill climb, from both her gender and being a relatively new face on the Bolshevik political scene.

Germany had taken a strange course. The Iron Lady had spearheaded a type of foreign policy that primarily advocated destroying Fascist movements, even if it meant collaborating with otherwise Anti-Communist parties at times. The radical right was decimated in Germany from a Communist-Social Democrat Coalition that arose in Germany. When a riot broke out from radical right wing members, the Communists used it as an excuse to pass a series of laws that banned all radical right parties basically. By 1936, Germany had become a Social Democracy in the style of Sweden at the time.

Japan had become a Fascist state, however one increasingly insecure, with the Soviet Union to its North, and a Fascist USA to its East that it had uneasy relations with. Hence, its empire had become shaky at best with two giants looking to demolish it.

The stage had been set for a very massive conflict between the two most powerful countries on Earth, and in a sense, the two most powerful ideologies, Communism and Fascism. Time would tell how long and brutal this conflict would become.

ASB I think, without some really good justifications for a Fascist US. The coup itself is extremely unlikely, but full on Fascism? At worst I think you'd see paternalistic authoritarianism.

Define Fascism? I'm using the Robert Paxton definition, and basing the US's Fascism off of the KKK.

Choking the Beast

The Iron's Lady 5 year plan was based on massive industrialization, agricultural improvement, and military expansion. Through the expansion of industry, came the ability to mechanize the military to the level Tukhachevsky needed for his,"Deep Operations," military theories. Additionally, it was key to the modernization of the Soviet Union that was needed for what the Iron Lady predicated to be a, "Cold War," with the United States.

For agriculture, the Iron Lady wanted to move beyond the NEP, which to her was a vestige of capitalism that needed to be eliminated. However, plans for collectivization discussed previously weren't acceptable either, for it ignored, "special things with agriculture," so she decided to turn agriculture into worker councils. To this day, the decision is thought of one of the things that was critical to the Soviet Union's success, for it provided an alternative to central planning that wasn't market based, allowing for a more decentralized economy in sections while still keeping to core principles. This strategy was applied to other parts of the economy later on through reforms.

Finally, the military expansion was to consist of the usage of militarization to counter the growing power of Fascist Japan and the Fascist USA. The latter didn't call itself Fascist, and was certainly different from Fascist states like Italy, however is today considered a distinct example of Fascism, which combined the politics of the Klu Klux Klan, with militarism and religious fundamentalism.

It mainly consisted of mechanizing the military based on recommendations by Tukhachevsky, and building a strong Soviet air force. However, investment was put into the navy, considering the considerable power possessed by the USN.

"The US is too strong to defeat the normal way. It can't be starved, it's self sufficient in what it currently possesses, and can easily access more essential resources like oil through conquest within its hemisphere. It can't be invaded, the Oceans alone make the logistics a nightmare, and even with that, too much territory would need to be fought through to take it out. Therefore, we must choke the US. Keep it from accessing the Eastern Hemisphere, and as much of the Western Hemisphere as possible. Let it be isolated, so the internal pressure from the system's contradictions shall destroy it. We shall wrap cold hands around, and squeeze until its last breath."

This set Soviet policy in the upcoming Cold War, with its containment policy. The immense power it gained during the 1940s would allow for it, however the USA would gain much power too. The stage was set, and two giants would begin to change the world to their image.

Questions? This drawing people away from some reason? I'll go more in depth on how America became Fascist if you all want it.

I have researched, but here the PODs have changed too much.(There is one in specific, which is a woman saving Lenin.)

Worse Gilded age leads to a political unstable US, a great war in Europe breaks out causing further economic instability, the left attempt a coup and fail, are demonized in society, eventually leading to a psuedo-fascist US with death camps for commies and dissenters.
Anyway that's how I would do a fascist US but you of course can do what you wish.

Ah, thanks.
