WIP Map Thread

An update on that Luso-Hispanic ISOT. :)

I'm working on something silly, and to be honest it's mostly silly because of the whole "WW1 stalemate and Germany takes over most of French colonial Africa when France falls to communism" aspect of it. You can see all of France-in-exile on the map by the way, for the remainder of the French colonial empire is going to be partitioned between the British, Americans, and nationalist movements (just like it happened in Madagascar).

EDIT: In the final map Alsace-Lorraine (and the French western border in general) will be status quo antebellum; I forgot to change them from my original plans.

Well, I've started work on a new map. As to the POD? Well... let's say dropping nukes on Nam wasn't exactly Johnson's brightest idea...

Progress on my crapsack Cyberpunk map has so far been good, all but done with Africa but I'm gonna ask you guys one question.

Let's say a war breaks out between these two guys:
  1. An utterly psychotic Neo-Nazi Apartheid Regime and its puppet states
  2. An equally sociopathic alliance of brutal African dictatorships (some of which outright preach Black supremacism)
Who would you root for? Because, well...

Frontlines of the Great African War (August 2015 - Ongoing)
Casualties so far: Excess of 2 Million, half of which are estimated to be the result of South African genocides

It depends. It's like choosing between AIDS or Radiation Poisoning. :(

I'd take a bullet to the head if I were to choose between 'We Wuz Kangz' or 'We Wuz Aryanz'.

Its "Wee ar Eryens" actually.

And as for the options:

1) South Africans - Genocide, indiscriminate use of chemical weapons on civilians, occupation policies not unlike Barbarossa

2) The Other Africans - Ethnic cleansing of dissident tribes, biological warfare in the form of weaponized Ebola, incredibly destructive scorched earth policies

Yeah... pass me the gun.

Nah. It's actually: WE WUZ SETH EFRIKANS N SHIIIIET KAFFIR!

Let's face it, Saffas and Rhodies are just memes at this point... :p

But, anyway...

Weaponized... EBOLA!?

Jesus Christ... Warfare in Africa is truly unbelievable...

Is the DDR a thing in yout TL? I can't seem to remember...

Is the DDR a thing in yout TL?

Yes. The Troubles turned out to be much more bloodier and traumatic while the Paris riots of 68 escalated to the point that it triggered a temporary state of emergency in France. Both the Brits and Frenchies ended up becoming more right-wing and authoritarian as a result of those events. Come the collapse of the USSR in 1984 and the disintegration of the Warsaw Pact, and German reunification seemed to be inevitable.

Until London and Paris threw huge temper tantrums and pressured Bonn into "postponing reunification for practical economic reasons". Some 32 years later, both Germanies are actually doing quite well. The West's economy is comparable to the OTL FRG while the DDR (now actually democratic) is on a level similar to OTL Poland. Both are very close and have a Economic/Customs Union, shared currency and open borders (Schengen got butterflied away ITTL) - and deep down resent the Frogs and Limeys for trying to keep them permanently divided.

Which is one reason why the NDP won 6% of Seats in the Western Budestag and 8% of seats in the Eastern Volkskammer in the most recent (East and West) German elections (which "coincidentally" have always fallen on the same date).

Nazi!DDR? I'm interested... :p

What about Australia? :D

pls no Republic :(

Lemme guess... Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen becomes PM...?
That and, meanwhile up North, Suharto went full dictator and subsequently violently fell from power in the early 80s. Cue Indonesian civil war, exodus of refugees, lots boats being turned away, and then some of them being "regretfully" sunk. Also a worse 'Nam experience didn't really help things ("We will be swamped by COMMUNIST Asians!")*

*just curious, your thoughts on OTL Pauline Hanson? I admit to not exactly being the most knowledgeable of people when it comes to Aussie politics and history. I keep hearing that she's some sort of racist POS, but is that even remotely true?

I'll PM you my thoughts on Pauline... I don't really like her per-say, but my opinions seem to be too un-PC for this part of the forum.

Wow... I thought that Bjelke-Petersen running my state for two decades was ridiculous... But the entire bloody country!?

Welcome to Dystopia! Entire point of the map and TL.

Let me give you some of his highlights...

  • Bjelke-Petersen was opposed by Sir Robert Sparkes, church groups and the federal government over a 1982 push to abolish Aboriginal and Islander community reserves and to give title to the reserve lands to local councils elected by communities—titles that could be revoked by the government for unspecified reasons. Bjelke-Petersen claimed there were over-riding issues of defence and security because of fears of a communist plot to create a separate black nation in Australia.
  • During his period in office Bjelke-Petersen frequently raised fears of a conspiracy of "southern homosexuals" to gain electoral advantage and to oppose the policies of the Federal government or other states.
  • He excused racially discriminatory legislation as a protective measure and generally supported Aboriginal self-determination at least partly as striking a blow against the monolithic centralism of Canberra under Labor.
  • He opposed the expansion of Aboriginal land rights, barred state officials from meeting World Council of Churches delegates who were studying the treatment of Aborigines in Queensland and demonstrated a strong moralistic streak, banning Playboy magazine, opposing school sex education and condom vending machines and in 1980 proposing a ban on women flying south for abortions. In May 1985 the government conducted a series of raids on so-called abortion clinics.
  • Biographers have suggested that Bjelke-Petersen, raised under a resented patriarch, himself came to play the strong patriarch, refusing to be accountable to anyone: "Rather than explaining himself or answering questions, he demanded to be taken on trust." He believed God had chosen him to save Australia from socialism
I think making this guy PM would make the White Australia Policy look like Rhodesia's version of Apartheid. It would still be shit, but not on the level of South Africa.
