Wilson wins the 1970 election

WI Wilson had won the 1970 election. My recollection is that Labour were hugely damaged by rather atypical balance of payments figures. At that time the Balance of payments was seen as the number 1 economic indicator- for some reason.

How different would the 1970s be?

Would there be an effort by the UK to join the EEC?

See What if Gordon Banks had played for a dystopic version. Basically Enoch Powell takes over from Heath as Tory Leader after he loses another election and after the fall of the Wilson government in '74 (or is it '75?) takes the country sharply Right. After the IRA Kill the Queen and blow up Parliament, killing most of the Labour Party, Martial Law is declared and all dows not end well.

I guess Heath would be ousted and replaced-by whom is a good question. It wouldn't be Powell. Maybe Whitelaw? Then Whitelaw wins in 1974.
