Wilson Remains Healthy

President Wilson does not exhaust himself into a stroke. Remaining vigorus to the end of his term. What are the odds of this changing anything with the post war peace, and US foreign policy in the 1920s? At this point I'm thinking no large changes, but would like to hear from one or more experts on the era.

He would have run for a 3rd term in 1920
(IOTL in 1920, despite the fact that by then he was physically a wreck he actually
thought the Democrats would turn to him
again & when he heard they had nominated
James Cox instead he erupted in a volley of
curses)- but I doubt he would have won(by
1920 it must be admitted that the country
had had enough of Woodrow Wilson). This
would have had the same effect as the 1920
election IOTL did- discredit internationalism
in general, & the US joining the LON in par-
ticular. So ironically enough, I rather doubt
it would change much!

My thought was had he been a lot healthier he'd done better for US goals in the pot war settlement, alleviating some the post war disillusionment.

He was just as stubborn on the League--refusing to make the necessary compromises to get the Treaty ratified--before the stroke as after.

There is the argument his wife and other inner circle would be just as influential without the stroke as with it. Does anyone see that as not the case?

The standard high school textbook answer — Wilson having a stroke hurt his chances of selling the Treaty and League to the American public.

The Treaty and thus Wilson’s reputation was already in ruins by the time the peace process began. The whole facade of a war to end all wars and a just and fair peace were shattered by the bloodthirsty French. Also Wilson’s reputation post Versailles was similar to Truman during Korea. No way he wins a 3rd term, he probably wouldn’t have even won at Convention.

If he's healthy, the biggest different might be his post-presidency. Not only is he going to live longer, possibly into the thirties if he plays his cards right(or even forties if lucky), but he's going to be able to do more. We could see a Jimmy Carter or Herbert Hoover situation, which is bound to have a big effect down the line
