William the conqueror loses the battle of Hastings?

For such a huge historical event, i'm surprised this hasn't been discussed more: What if Harold won the battle of Hastings? What if he waited to rest his troops and the arrival of reinforcements, what if William had been killed while charging the Saxon lines? Who would inherit after Harold, would england descend into civil war? How will relations with the continent be changed? Whats the effect on our laws and language? What do you think?
