William Pitt in America.

William Pitt, First Earl of Chatham was extremely vocal about his support of the grievances of the colonials. Is there a way to plausibly have him relocated to the American Colonies, and perhaps fight for their independence from there?

Or, is there any way in which the Pitt family can become pivotal to the United States, instead of Britain?

Pitt was well into his 60's by the time the ARW was a possibility, it seems highly unlikely that he would go and fight on behalf of the Americans. He was also to much of a politician to retire to the colonies and give up polotics. he would also have thought that he could be more useful to the colonists in the House of Lords than in America.

It many be possible that one of his sons (not William the Younger) may move to the colonies and become active with the ARW. John seems the most likely, he was about 20 at the time.

Pitt the Elder also suffered horrendously from gout, which would have made him a most unsuitable soldier, even setting aside his age.

But I think you are mistaking his political position. Pitt sympathised strongly and vocally for colonial grievances, but he fundamentally felt the colonists were Englishmen and thus believed in imperial unity. He was too much of a British patriot to fight against his own country.

As for John Pitt, I believe he actually fought for the British during this war.
