William of Normandy's ship gets wrecked, a British Kamikaze

WI:William of Normandy's ship gets wrecked, a British Kamikaze

What if William of Normandy was shipwrecked before he goes to Britain, what will happen to England, is it possible that England becomes isolationist or the Godwinsons make an alliance with the Capetians.

England is more likely to face towards Scandinavia - be the biggest power out of England, Scotland, Norway, Denmark and Sweden - than to get heavily involved in France.

I believe it'll take the wool trade starting up for England to really get dragged into continental affairs.

Arguably Britain did have a Kamikaze (in the original sense), but it was against the Spanish Armada in 1588. As you can see around the edge of the commemorative medal, "God breathed and they were scattered", and the origin of the winds blasting away the Armada is shown here with the Tetragrammaton.

Anyway, the subject of the thread is just another 'No Norman Conquest' WI, those are 6.2p a dozen.
