WI McKinley wasn't assassinated by Leon Czolgosz in 1901? What would McKinley do about the Russo-Japanese War? Who wil win in 1904?

McKinley would probably follow Roosvelt's course in the Russo-Japanese War though he might not try to start negotiations and simply sit by which would mean Russia gets beaten up even more in TTL. If Russia gets crushed even worse it could cause an earlier Russian Revolution which might mean someone other than the Bolsheviks take control and Russia is stronger by the time World War I comes around without Rasputin and incompetant generals.

Honestly, i think it would have more of an effect on American history, not the Russo-Japanese war.

The Anthracite Coal Strike of 1902 (?) might have ended more violently, since McKinley was, I believe, more pro-business than Roosevelt was. Roosevelt negotiated directly with the strikers and the mine owners. The Progressive Era in American politics might have started later, esp. if Roosevelt quit the vice presidency (as he was considering at the time) and Taft took his place.

Well, many people thought McKinley's Vice President (Teddy Roosevelt) was a wacko. So, if McKinley survives his term, the next election will be very different. If Roosevelt never becomes president, we're talking about a major setback in Progressive Politics.
