Williakm XI, Duke of Aquitaine

William X (1099-1137) was Duke of Aquitaine.
William had three children: Eleanor, Petronilla, and William Aigret.
William Aigret died at age four in 1130.
Suppose William Aigret does not die in 1130.
He becomes William XI, Duke of Aquitaine in 1137. What happens then?
Will Eleanor of Aquitaine still marry King Louis VII of France or King Henry II of England?

I think there is a chance for Aquitaine to expand and establish an independent occitania.

De facto maybe, but formally they would still be considered as a vassal of the French Crown. Just like how the county of Barcelona formally remained a vassal of the French Crown until the treaty of Corbeil in 1258.

IMHO the duke of Aquitaine could eventually end up with a royal crown, due to involvement in the kingdom of Navarra. Or the king of Navarra ends up with Aquitaine.

Eleanor is unlikely to marry so splendidly. Aigret would no doubt dedicate much of his time and resources to conquering Toulouse, and thereafter to expanding his authority in the regions of Berry and Auvergne.

@ Velasco: if Eleanor is married more than once, then it certainly is unlikely that each marriage will be with a king or the Holy Roman Emperor.
However she's still likely to marry someone from a royal, ducal or even an important comital (Toulouse, Barcelona, Flanders etc.) dynasty. She won't end up with some low noble. However ITTL she'll probably be used for dynastic purposes, so to secure a good alliance for her house.

If William XI alive, as far as I know, his father did not go to Spain in 1137.
He did it, because he wanted to born a heir, and he did a pilgrimage to ask for a son.

Then William X did not die in 1137, and Eleanor probably did not marry Louis VII. If I remember correctly, when William X died, the father of Louis VII became the regent of Eleanor and quickly found "the best husband" for her.

Maybe, William X with Barcelona to conquer Toulouse.
Maybe, Henry II will not be the King of England in TTL :)
