Wif FDR dies in childhood

Wif FDR dies from Polio, yeah what if as a young child he contracts a much worse form of Polio that attacks his heart and lungs leading to his death........

How would the butterflies affect America, what will happen in WWII and how different would America be from today....
None of his reforms and New deal are implemented what happens....

Gustavus Adolphus

Small quibble. I think you will find he was crippled by it when already in his twenties or possibly later.

If he doesn't make his reforms and no one else does things could go very bad for the US. Either continued dominance by the hard line conservatives, which could lead to violent opposition or simply continued decline and decay, or some demogage like Long possibly proving very attractive.

Not certainly the case but this could also be very bad for the other democracies. Without a stable US willing and able to help out unless they get markedly luckier most of the continent could well fall to some Hitler equivalent and Britain be isolated. Could also see Japan on the rampage in the Far East, although Britain, if it's not tied up in Europe should be able to cripple it, although not without some hard fighting. At worse case Britain also falls and democracy could be restricted pretty much to Canada and a very exposed Australia and New Zealand.

That is the standard view. Some argue otherwise about the importance of the New Deal but I would disagree with them. The same, mainly right-wing sources, also argue that he was determined to get America into WWII. Hence either way, unless WWII is butterflied or things go better for the allies it starts looking pretty grim. [Either of those are possible and there's a hell of a lot that could go wrong for Hitler for example but not something I would like to rely on.
