WIf American blunders did not occur in war of 1812

After reading about the war of 1812 I was surprised at how stupidly the Americans acted, So I was wondering, WIf it had gone differently, WHat I think is that have Madison sack secratary Armstrong, He does not agree to Canadian invasion, focuses more on defense and repopulating the country, could he or the AMerican nation have done anything to succesfully repel the British from AMerican soil and win huge victories
:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Since the whole point of the war was to invade and conquer as much Canadian soil as possible...no.
Really, son even if they had smarter generals, couldnt they do anything to win this war, like maybe have common sense, put defense on washinghton make less blunder, win at Bladesburg Maryland, anything:confused: or were they going to lose anyway:cool:

Well Armstrong had the right idea about attacking Kingston. Had he successfully pushed his idea the US could've gained a decisive victory in Upper Canada. Had then the US transfered its army to eastern Maine its possible to repulse British landings there while relying on the Great Lakes squadrons to hold onto Upper Canada.

Lol, the Armstrong, the Idiot who did not bother to defend washington got rid of Militia, refused to call up defense, Oh shizz!!!!....:eek::eek::eek: he actually said something useful........:eek:

Gustavus Adolphus, by that point the war was already lost and the only question was how lightly, if at all, the British would let them off.

Armstrong? Do we judge him by one theoretically intelligent idea or his actual display of incompetence in the field?

aCTUALLY YOUR RIGHT.... So..... what if.... The Canada campaign was succesfull, right and competant generals take command of the army...... COuld anything change:confused:

Armstrong did have the right idea about Kingston but wasn't firm enough and he did much to improve the US Army's organization and bureacracy other than that I agree he was pretty useless. If you want a great general to lead the American army then we just have to convince this guy to take the job. Upper Canada would have been fairly easy to occupy take and hold with a competent General. Lower Canada would be much more difficult as it was heavily fortified and with RN superiority on the St. Lawrence you'd have to launch a winter offensive when the St. Lawrence is frozen over.

Awrssome!!!! Ill be continuing my Trebizond Tl v2.0 and I was wondering if you guys would be interested in a TL where
Jean Victor Marie Moreau

Becomes the commanding general of the US armed forces at the outbreak of war wih Britain..........:cool:

Maybe if your POD involves the Federalists staying in power until 1812, or the Federalists not basically disbanding the US Army. The vast majority of soldiers and officers who fought in the war were amateurs without a bit of military experience. The USN was not much better.

I don't actually think the War of 1812 can be expected to go much better given the balance of forces in 1812. Even if the US was able to capture a few cities in Upper Canada like they did during the Revolutionary War, I am not very optimistic that they could have held them against the inevitable British counterattack. Though when it comes to protecting Washington DC, I do think that a more active Secretary of War could have done something to prevent that humiliation. Like actually fortifying the national capital!
