WI Zeno becomes Western Roman Emperor in 467 AD?

Emperor Leo's I reign was noteworthy for his influence in the Western Roman Empire, marked by his appointment of Anthemius as Western Roman Emperor in 467.
WI Leo I instead of appointing Anthemius as his colleague in the West appoints his new son-in-law Zeno to the Imperial position as a counterweight to the growing power of Magister Militum Ricimer?
Could WRE had done better with Zeno as Emperor (assuming he manages to neutralise somehow Ricimer)?
Any thoughts?

Could Zeno be able to neutralise Ricimer and revive somehow the ailing WRE (with the help of his father in law)?
But as a twist Zeno becoming Western Emperor raises the issue of succession... In OTL Leo I died 7 years later and was succeeded by his grandson Leo II who died 10 months later aged 7... Could Zeno succeeded as Wastern Emperor too and reunite both halves (actually whats left of WRE...) Or as senior Emperor he appoints a new Eastern Emperor and deals himself with Odoacer (or vice versa Zeno becomes Eastern Emperor and appoints a new Western Emperor cabable in dealing with Odoacer)
