An interesting idea that came to me recently is the idea of the Yuezhi, instead of fleeing west, away from the clutches of the Xiongnu and into lands that were alot less well-known, to the lands of the wine-drinking Baktrian Hellenes and their distant cousins, migrate south, through Western Sichuan and Guizhou, to settle and invade the lands of the Nanyue? How does this affect the Near East, and Baktria? More importantly, how would the Han court react upon this news, that a group of nomads from the west have invaded and conquered their nemesis? Do the Yuezhi form a vassalage or tributary agreement, or settle within the Han empire up on it's northern frontier, fighting the Xiongnu savages? Or do the Yuezhi attempt to carry on and inherit the fight they gained from Nanyue? What impact would it have on the culture of the region? Could it inspire other nomadic peoples to do similar things and result in increased aggressiveness and boldness against the Chinese state? And who fills the vaccum the Yuezhi did IOTL?

They die. There’s no way they would be able to traverse the mountains, deserts and into malaria infested tropical regions.Should they succeed, they get finished off by the Han Dynasty easily. They would have lost all of their horses and advantage of cavalry fighting in Nanyu.
