WI Yuan Shikai remains president dictator of china

as we know in the 1900s Yuan shikai managed to completly crush the opposition becoming an effective dictator of china. However when he declared himself emperor he lost many of his close supporters and his reigme collapsed. WHat if Yuan didn't adopt the monarchy and continued ruling. WHat would happen with a china controlled by Yuan? Thoughts.

Well he still dies in 1916. The southern (as well as the Ma Warlords) wouldn't have any reason to raise armies. So if he picks out a clear successor for presidency (probably Duan), this person could be quite a lot more powerful than the OTL ones. It is a lot more likely that China stays united, although a southern rebellion and some Japanese intrigues may still happen. The rebellion may be successful and lead to a Kuomintang Republic either controlling southern China (as OTL but with much less power for the local warlords, without their armies raised in '16) or completely overthrowing the Beiyang Government. Or the Beiyang Government defeats the rebels and stays in power.

But thousands of warlords as OTL are not going to happen in none of these scenario's.

Hendryk's Superpower Empire should be right up your ally.
No, because that one cuts short Yuan's reign and has a Chinese empire - a successful Chinese empire, true, but still far diverged from the question of someone *not* trying to form a new empire.
