WI: Wittelsbach England

Say that the marriage between Albert V, the Duke of Bavaria and Anna, the Archduchess of Austria, does not happen. What happens if Mary I of England married Albert V of Bavaria, say, on August of 1553 and had children?

May not happen.

Mary I wanted a strong catholic alliance to help her against what she saw as the Protestant threaten in her nation. So unlikely they'd marry.
But if they marry then Bavaria will have access to the English manpower, allowing it to be more aggressive than otl like the Dutch after William of orange became king of England. Or they may become like the hannovarians in the otl,
putting the English crown ahead of the family crow lands, thus Bavaria getting a absentee king which may lead to a split in the family, one side getting England and the other Bavaria, like the habsburg's like in the otl.

And Albert V was one of the leaders of the Counter-Reformation OTL.

It didn't matter if he was one of the leaders of the counter reformist movement or THE main man, he'll always be boged down in Germany unlike the Spanish who wehere a global power Bavaria was a regional power even then serrounded by strong neighbours. In the end of the day if Mary had a Protestant revolt Albert would not be able to help her, or if he could by the time he'd arrived the rebels would already have had a strangle hold on the war. Marrying Phillip allowed to cast a shadow over England the looming threat of Spain kept any upstart nobles in check. That's why today he's got tr nickname Bloody Mary.

P.s looking at his portrait Mary may have decided marry him if she saw him.
