WI Wiliam of Orange dies before the glorious Revolution

Who would widowed Mary Stuart marry then, the incompetent idiot James II had betrayed the Anglican establishment, they would have install a bastard to take away his throne if necessary.

They tried that with the Monmouth Rebellion. It didn't work.

If William dies before he can invade, one of two thing will happen - a) they will try the original plan (and the one Mary originally agreed to) to install a Regency with Mary at the head and James III as baby king raised a Protestant or b) they will try to discredit the birth of James Francis Edward with the warming pan theory and replace him with a child of Mary or Anne (at this point both were young enough to have surviving children - who knew none of Anne's would survive?).

Well, hopefully Mary's more still unmarried (or married to a different Protestant, don't know who, though) than widowed, since she had a bad pregnancy in 1678/1679 that left her barren.
