A second attempt to assassinate Wilhelm I was made on 2 June 1878 by Karl Nobiling. As the monarch drove past in an open carriage, the assassin fired a shotgun at the Kaiser from the window of a house off the "Unter den Linden". William was wounded and was rushed back to the palace.

In OTL, Wilhelm survived, but what if he died?

Frederick III and Victoria could try to liberalize Prussia, firing Bismarck in the process. When Frederick III dies, if he has enacted any liberal policies, Wilhelm II will try to reverse it, as he was far more autocratic than his father, maybe creating a lot of unrest in the german population if they like Frederick's liberal reforms.

But, if Friedrich III implements a parliamentary system, like in UK, would Wilhelm II be able to reverse that? The opposition will be too strong..

I think that Wilhelm II stupidity would make him try to destroy the parliamentary system. He was very very conservative guy, and maybe he would be helped by the junckers and Bismarck. But maybe he will leave the system as it his, but that would be less interesting ;).

Also, if there is some unrest, i think that the repression would be bloody. The alsatians could try to rise against the Reich, and this could lead to the Franco-Prussian war round 2, which would maybe unite germany behind the emperor (or the French could call for an international conference under the guise of protecting the Alsatians)
