WI: Wikileaks tips off Osama Bin Laden

WI:Wikileaks somehow gets hold of Government speculation that Osama Bin Laden was in Abottabad, Pakistan before the raid and released this to the public? or release anything that might tip Osama Bin Laden off that America is onto his location.

Would Pakistan immediately detain Osama Bin Laden? or would Bin Laden escape?

Would Wikileaks be shut down or blocked nationally? Would Julian Assange be tried as a criminal or "have an accident" (a.k.a killed...)?

What would the effect on the 2012 Election, the War in Afghanistan, and the War on Terror.

Highly unlikely to say the least of it. Please show me an example of where Wikileaks have leaked an operation that is been planned?

I don't expect this to be very likely, but they seem to have gotten hold of some stuff that Government's want to be kept private...

Now that I think about it, this should be in ASB

I don't think it'd be possible. The mission was kept so tightly under wraps that not even Pakistan knew about it until after it was carried out. And the US military is transparent about a lot of things (they were very willing to let the world know that the most advanced aircraft ever built were moved to Iran's doorstep). So while I severely lack knowledge in this area, I doubt that Wikileaks would have gotten a hold of the information.

They have however what they have gotten hold of and then released (NOTE two very different things) have been a mixture of past operations and cables For sure its stuff that they (various governments not just the US) want to keep quiet

Why not just have Pakistani Intelligence do it? They knew he was there the whole time.

And if news breaks, then Pakistan Intel shunts him off to another safe-house. "Oh, so sorry, we juuuuust missed him. You should keep looking in Afghanistan; I'm sure he went there for real this time."

Pakistan didn't know the CIA had agents there, or that the US was planning anything, so even if Bin Laden did have links inside Pakistani intelligence they wouldn't have done him any good.

I have it on the personal authority of Maj. Gen. Isfandiyar Ali Khan Pataudi (the #2 guy in the IS) that the upper IS leadership was well aware of UBL's location and that links of course existed. For shit's sake, the guy's compound wasn't even a mile away from Pakistan's West Point.

My point is that if Wikileaks breaks the story, then it will be the IS--not the CIA--who will be first on the scene, shunting UBL to another safe-house.

Wait, you're saying you know him personally?

Whoa.

If the USA didnt like Asange and wikileaks as it was this would mean that wikileaks would have trouble finding servers anywere in the world

this sounds like horseshit anti-wikileaks propaganda. There's no way that they would have tipped Bin Laden off.

Why would he do that anyway? Assange isn't an idiot, he would have openly and actively aided terrorism by tipping off one of the Wst's most wanted men. Assange would soon find himself in a comfortable second.

Wikileaks could not have to tippped off the operation, since it was top secret.
Wikileaks could however have tipped off the surveillance and capture of Osama's courrier, which he used to get messagesvto the outside, while he was in his compound.
This could theoretically mean, that Osama may have sensed the US was close to findung him and may have tried to escape.
