WI: Weimar Republic adopted FPTP

It could actually have led to Hitler coming to power earlier: "The July 1932 election was Hitler's greatest triumph in the Weimar era...The Nazi party had assumed the title of the most popular party in Germany. *If a British first-past-the-post system had been in operation Hitler would have won an overall majority of seats.* [emphasis added--DT] https://books.google.com/books?id=rE7JAwAAQBAJ&pg=PA96

Of course a standard reply is that Hitler might not have gotten that many votes in 1932 if there had been FPTP because that would have led to more stable government in the 1920's and early 1930's with fewer parties in the Reichstag. But if a more stable government still pursues policies that are as disastrous as Bruening's in OTL, I don't see it facing any less of a popular backlash...

That's FPTP for you. Almost impossible to break into, but when breakouts and landslides happen, they happen big.
