WI Walter Jenkins not arrested?

Watched the HBO film All the Way today, and... wow, can't believe I never heard of this guy. And I'm not the only one who thinks his arrest in 1964 had potentially major consequences:
Wikipedia said:
Johnson's White House Press Secretary George Reedy told an interviewer: "A great deal of the president's difficulties can be traced to the fact that Walter had to leave.... All of history might have been different if it hadn't been for that episode." Former Attorney General Ramsey Clark said that Jenkins' resignation "deprived the president of the single most effective and trusted aide that he had. The results would be enormous when the president came into his hard times. Walter's counsel on Vietnam might have been extremely helpful."
So what do you guys think? What if the man LBJ (may) have thought of as a son hadn't seen his career cut short at a single YMCA bust? Would Johnson's presidency have been affected? How would history be different?

I watched All the Way last week and had the same thought...

I need to think on this one and perhaps read a bit from Caro, but it was a huge loss for LBJ. I'd buy into the idea that avoiding Jenkins' arrest might lead to a different and more successful Johnson presidency. Once you become President, finding people you trust with everything and who tell you what you need to hear gets very tough and LBJ never really was able to replace Jenkins. The idea that Jenkins might have steered LBJ on a different course with Vietnam certainly strikes me as possible.

The whole matter strikes me as a tragic waste of talent. That such barbarous attitudes are being consigned to the ash heap of history is a good thing and the Jenkins case is a good reminder of that.

Despite what happened to him, Jenkins was still a class act and still loyal to LBJ up to Lyndon's passing in 1973. Regretfully, he never wrote a book or did interviews following his departure from the White House. Maybe it was all out of loyalty to the Johnson family.

Johnson said once the white house was no longer his, He was going to reconcile with Jenkins.
I think he would have been smart enough to convince the President to take the public into his confidence about the Asian vacation. It may still have happened it may not, but I believe It might have turned out better!
