WI : Wadj-wer of the Many Seas (An Egyptian Poseidon)

I've noticed with a bit of reading on ancient Egyptian religion that they don't seem to have a Poseidon analogue. The closest is the god Wadj-wer - possibly the god of the med, but more likely god of the marshes and lagoons of the Nile Delta.

So my question is what if Wadj-wer and his cult evolved to be a God of the Seas and Oceans - perhaps the "Son of Hapi" - or may portraying the Seas as various Children of Hapi.

If this cult became important (perhaps due to being more interested in overseas trade than OTL Egypt), what further changes could this have had on Egypt? Could they have evolved into a true maritime power?

Alternatively, could Egypt "adopt" Poseidon or another Ocean God from another culture and weave them into the Pantheon somehow?

Well, the best chance for a cross culture Poseidon historically speaking would be during the Ptolemaic era.

However I think it is not surprising that a Poseidon like figure was not prominent given the over rising importance of the Nile and agriculture. For example when isis was incorporated into the Religio Roma as part of her mystery cult her overriding importance was with protection of Sailors thus one of the most important goddesses in Egyptian mythology became important to Sailors, especially in the Roman Empire where trade was all important in their lake.

I believe for Egypt they would have to be like the Greeks or Phoecians. Not a lot of land so they supplant it with fishing and sea trade. For that you need either a geographic POD.
