Now, let's go another way of usual wunderwaffe wanks, and try to see how the world looks like if one of them is cancelled, in this case, V-2. In my case I will unfortunately pass the effects of V-2 cancellation upon Second World War. Let's say the resources saved will be used to produce more fighters and tanks for which there will be no fuel or trained crews. The war will go almost exactly like in OTL without significant changes.

I'll try to write a quick and dirty scenario on this and I would greatly respect feedback.

The real question is, what will happen after the end of the Second World War? Although V-2, as often said, did not have significant effect upon outcome of the Second World War and that it in several ways was a dead end as far as rocket development goes, it most importantly served as a proof-of-concept for ballistic missiles. I don't think it's feasible that without V-2 Soviet Union or the United States will put a significant effort on developing ballistic missiles as in OTL.

Without V-2, there will still be guidance technology and atomic bomb. Thus, instead of ballistic missiles the intermediate and strategic missile development will concentrate upon cruise missiles.

However, I also think that artillery rockets would be developed, especially as warhead miniaturization comes on-line in early 1950's. Thus, the forerunner of ballistic missiles will be Honest John or something like it. This will probably lead into further development of ballistic missiles but probably not as quickly as in OTL either in United States or in USSR.

Now, let's move forward to year 1957 which was the year that ballistic missiles made their breakthrough in political importance through Soviet ICBM test and above all, due to Sputnik. At what stage would the developments be in this ATL scenario?
