OTL During the 1970s a small group of analysts influenced USAF thinking as it requested proposals for teen-series fighters. The group was led by pilot John Boyd, Colonel Everest Riccioni, Pierre Sprey, Myers, etc. Their motto “Not a pound for air to ground” influenced the Light Fighter competition that led to teen-series fighters like the F-15, F-16, YF-17 and F-18 fighters by keeping them focussed on only air-to-Air missions, helped reduce weight and cost.
