WI: USA continues isolation post WW2

lets say for whatever reason truman and subsequent presidents promise to only look after their native population and not attempt empire or interventionism and continue as they did before the war.
the USA will still be a strong ally of the international community and the UN, and send aid to impoverished or oppressed regions.
how would 2017 look today? what butterflies would occur.

That would be a big change from US behavior before WW2. Pre-WW2, the US was mostly "isolationist" in relation to Europe - they were very active in the Americas and were active in Asia. And since post-WW2 the USSR was also trying to influence Asia more, "continuing as they did before the war" would naturally draw the US into intervening in Europe. Now, if the US gives the USSR another 5 or 10 years to build up its influence among the European countries, that would have major impacts. But "isolationism" of the pre-war variety was going sooner or later.
