WI: US division fighting on Soviet side during WW2.

The history of Anders army actually supports your opponents. First, the Poles were already in the Soviet Union. Second, despite nominal control of the Polish government in exile, the army was entirely dependent on the Soviets and commanded by them. Third, Stalin got rid of them as it became apparent that they were too hard to control. Nor do I think did they do any actual fighting in Russia. They were used in less critical occupation duties.
Yes, it's true, (apart from being commanded by Soviets and dependent on them). They ended in Middle East and there was a lot of trouble with supply and arms (basically, Stalin was asking western Allies to supply them), so it's debatable, but it's not as clear.

What occupation duties, btw?

February 25th, 1942, unnamed briefing room.

Congratulation boys, you are here because you have all been selected for the Russian Front!

I know what you are thinking.

First, granted, you most probably don´t know the language. Fear not, that won´t be necessary for most of you, beyond a few basic things.

If you do need to, hovewer, me and my soviet counter-parts will teach you.

2nd, you don´t want to?

*smiles*

We´ll make you.

Thank you, that's useful information I didn't have.

It's also completely irrelevant to the topic at hand.

A sole RAF squadron operating in Murmansk between September and October of '41 is not a "US division fighting on Soviet side during WW2" as the OP wrote, Eastern Front international brigades as the OP suggested, or large WAllie formations as others have mentioned.

A tiny squadron of Free French pilot used in all of three campaigns and seven USAAF shuttle bombing missions after June of '44 are not a "US division fighting on Soviet side during WW2" as the OP wrote, Eastern Front international brigades as the OP suggested, or large WAllie formations as others have mentioned either.

Stalin is not going to accept substantial Western help beyond logistics unless his back is to the Urals because doing so will reveal to the world that his socialist paradise is actually continent-sized prison and abattoir while also revealing to his inmates that the world beyond their cage is not what Stalin has presented.

In Stalin's mind, the presence of large WAllie units on Soviet soil is as much a danger as the presence of large German units on Soviet soil.
