What would have happened to the rest of what now is Iraq ?
Merged with Kuwait or with what now is Jordan?

Good for Turkey in that it gets a large economic boost from the oil, bad for Turkey in that it gets a metric ass-ton of more Kurds which considering how things went in our timeline is going to cause all sorts of fun.

Doubt it, they still need to find a consolation prize for Faisal when Syria doesn't pan out and Iraq is the easiest option. Whilst they'll still have the southern oil fields the progress of Iraq will probably be a bit slower since IIRC it was the northern fields that had been developed first and brought in the initial money.

You guys do know that oil-exploration operations were going on in Ottoman-controlled Iraq before WWI? And so without the war, and without the disruptions of the post-war carving up of the Ottoman's Arab possessions, you'll likely have oil discovery earlier, and without the war, there'll be less military spending and more focus on economic development.

Also, without WWI, most of the money will probably go to the British. Historically, the German percentage of the Turkish Oil Company wasn't very large.

Er, did you miss the part of the original post about the Republic of Turkey and it being after WW1?

Edit: I suppose the Ottoman Empire staying neutral in the war could get you that, but then they probably wouldn't transition to the Republic of Turkey either.
