WI: Trump runs for NY governor in 2014?

Deleted member 96212

As seen in this news article, a few Republicans in 2014 were trying to get Donald Trump to run for the governor's office of New York. What if he takes them up on their offer? Would he win or lose? How would this affect his decision to run for President in 2016?

Sorry if this is supposed to be in Chat.

Since New York has become a very Democratic state, he loses; afterwards, the resulting humiliation causes his 2016 Presidential bid to fail.

Astorino was a sort of sacrificial lamb that the Republicans offered up because they didn't want to run anyone who was up for re-election. While I think Trump could have done better than than Astorino by rallying more conservatives to his cause, I'm not sure he could win. Maybe if you have the something more along the lines of the Ferguson Riots after the Eric Garner incident you could get enough people in NYC feeling that Cuomo has made them less safe and you could get an even tighter race, but I'm not sure it would be enough to propel Trump to victory. If he won, then I doubt that he'd run for president in 2016.

Depends on which Trump ran...the guy who ran for president would lose. The more moderate guy from the 90s who supported the Clintons and could have run as a pro choice..pro gay marriage..tax cuts..could have done okay
