(not sure if this is too soon, but please bear with me. Also lets avoid any political arguments, please :p )

Donald Trump, now our President-elect, was not predicted to run for president in 2016. Polls for the Republican primaries showed Governor Jeb Bush, Senator Marco Rubio, Senator Rand Paul, Governor Scott Walker, and many others. With Trump running, almost everything in the Republican primaries, and eventually the presidential election, changed. Trump's right-wing populist rhetoric has even changed some principles of the Republican Party and caused several traditionally "blue states" (Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, hell even Minnesota was close) to vote Republican.

What I would like to know is how different the Republican primaries would have gone, who would have been nominated, would this affect the Democratic primaries in any way, and would they win against Clinton/Kaine (assuming they are still the nominees).

I think it's time people start messaging the mods whether these threads revolving around current politics are appropriate to post so they then don't have to lock them later.

It is time for mods to set a clear guideline when a topic stops being "recent". Is it two months? A year? Two? Twenty?

Here is the easiest way to gauge it.

Will the thread possibly/probably start an argument about current politics? If so, then it belongs in Chat.
