Titu Cusi was the second to last Sapa Inca of the Neo-Incan State, which coexisted with the Spaniards for a few decades before being subjugated under Titu Cusi's heir Tupac (not the rapper--though that would be an amazing ASB TL). At the time of his sudden death from pneumonia, he was in negotiations with the Spanish to abandon his capital of Vilcabamba with his court and live on a Crown pension. He seems to have been quite amenable to the idea and had even been baptized as a Catholic.
So what if he had survived his illness? Could this have allowed the remnants of the old Andean elites to survive under Spanish suzerainty? Or would it just be a quicker and more peaceful extinction of the Neo-Inca?
