WI: Their was a sealion... and subsequently Operation Sealion fails spectacurly

You know, I've never seen a thread were the Nazi's attemp Sealion and then it blows up in their face. I mean we all agree that is what would happen.

So let's say the nazi's commit operation Sealion at the same time as operation Barborossa. So how would this effect the war? Would the war be shorter sence a lot of the soilders of Germany would had died from it?

Doing it simultaneous with Barbarossa would be even beyond Hittler's hubris. Doing it before Barbarossa seems more sensible so that the Germans could defeat all existing enemies before making new ones. Germany was in fact trying to do this. Secret peace negotiations were underway which ultimately culminated in the flight of Rudolf Hess. The British pretended to want peace in the hope that Hittler would feel safe enough to open up a new front in the East. It seems to have worked even though when Hess arrived instead of some diplomat the British were so surprised with this great catch that they locked him up.

Failure of Sealion would result in no declaration of war on the Soviets if Hittler was smart or more likely a quicker defeat by the Russians.

You've never seen threads like that as 1: they are not allowed(check sticky thread) and 2: the Nazi's would have never even tried Sealion as they didn't have the means to. No ships, no manpower, no air superiority.

So what would happen even if they fail is not the question, as they could have never even started it. Especially not at the same time as Barbarossa.

Plus, even in ASB the result would be obvious.

Also, the search function sucks.;)

It would be an epic disaster of Biblical proportions for the Wehrmacht, which is good for everyone but the Nazi Party and its dreams of blood and eternal slaughter.

A Better Show in 1940. It has its flaws, but its the best TL on the subject.

The biggest flaw of a Better Show is that it only goes as far as the immediate aftermath,
I've trawled through the thread and can't find a single scenario that goes past 1941 in any detail.
Seriously, how would the colossal failure that Sealion would inevitably be affect the course of the war and world politics afterwards?

I read a rather exciting one somewhere online which starts with the British preemptively invading Norway and losing, leading the Kriegsmarine to underestimate the Royal Navy's competence, leading to a Sealion which is duly executed and defeated. It goes for at least four years afterwards. Unfortunately, I can't find it again...

EDIT: New search terms just brought it up! Here it is, under "Sealion Fails"! It goes through to the end of the war.

Oh I remember this timeline, still, it would be interesting to see how a failed sea lion pans out till the present day.
