WI: The WTC Falls In 1993

A few months ago, I created this infobox detailing what may have happened if the 1993 World Trade Centre bombing conspiracy succeeded in its goals. Barring the number of casualties from the collapse of the two buildings (I'm unsure of a more reasonable number), what would have been the likely outcome of this event. With Bill Clinton only recently entering into office, what would be his administrations response to the disaster, especially once they discovered who was behind the attacks? Would their response in any way mimic what Bush would have done ten years later? How would the 1994 and 1996 elections be altered following such a horrific attack against Americans on American soil? How else would this event affect the 1990s?

Sudan could be invaded, I think they had Bin Laden at the time. they might be more willing to hand him over, but the US would be so out for blood that they'd see everything as just them trying to be cowards and stop an invasion, not cooperation. A War in Sudan TL is one I would read. As for US politics, there would be a huge rally around the flag effect. Democrats would gain seats in 1994 though its possible if Sudan is a real clusterfuck they could lose 1996, epsecially if McCain or a national-security orientated candidate can blame any problems on 'soft' Democrats. Hillarycare would be delayed until 1995, where with a solidly Democrat Congress and national support for the President it should pass-then again it had such an advantage that it should have passed IOTL. Depending on how severe the damage it could cause an economic crisis of some proportion, 9/11 helped cause the minor economic troubles in Bush's first term, if there had been a bigger collapse and more damage in New York it is possible the global economy could do badly. Mind you that's pretty minor compared to impending wars in Sudan and maybe other places too.
