The sinking of the ocean liner RMS Titanic was arguably the most famous maritime disaster in history. Let's make it even more so!
Numerous ships have vanished at sea over the centuries. One well-known example is the
SS Waratah, which disappeared in July of 1909 along with 211 passengers and crew. No trace of her has ever been found.
What if the same thing had happened to the Titanic?
Rogue wave, a sudden storm, the Kraken!!

, whatever. It simply vanishes at sea like the Waratah, (or the
SS Koombana, or the
USS Cyclops, or the
MS Munchen, or..) making it's watery demise a huge mystery.
No wreckage. No distress call. No bodies. She just sails over the horizon, and...
gone. The Titanic disaster won't be any more well-known in the ATL than in our own but now it's got the rarefied air of the paranormal about it. Conspiracy theories will abound!
The Cameron film will sure as hell be different, anyway....
