@JonasResende; archduke Albrecht only ruled in the Netherlands in right of his wife infanta-archduchess Isabella (actually she's archduchess by birth and marriage), without issue from their marriage the Spanish Netherlands would revert to the main Spanish branch.
Moreover Albrecht was in line to the thrones of Hungary, Bohemia, Austria and thus the Holy Roman Empire, there's absolutely no way, he will forgo of all this, if he has a son or even sons to succeed him.
This might be interesting for the Burgundian Lands, since they basically shifted form the Spanish to the Austrian branch and somehow, provided it lasts long enough, the Spanish branch might not even want it back, even when they are technically first in line.
Okay, thanks for clearing that up. So had Isabel died before Albrecht, he would've had to go back to Prague/Vienna, and Spain would've sent out a new governor (or just kept Al on, after all, he'd been their regent in Portugal before the Netherlands post came up, and he'd know the situation on the ground better than any johnny-come-lately from Madrid).
Am I correct in reading that Spain (if the Burgundian sideline lasts long enough) would feel alienated from Burgundy if they suddenly got it dropped in their lap at a later point due to the Burgundian line going extinct?
