WI: the Spanish can't conquer Luzon

What if the Japanese were able to plant their influence and the population of Luzon was larger than OTL and the Tondo Dynasty were able to dodge the advances of the Bruneians conquering their land and because that they were able to resist the Spanish(I think the Capital would be shifted north if they are able to survive the Bruneians since Tondo is not a secure capital), what would happen to the Philippines and how would that effect the age of discovery/colonization.

Well, the Philippines were a vital link in the global maritime trade, what would be a suitable alternative?

I would say that if the spanish couldn't conquer Luzon, they might try a more southerly isle (like Mindanao, Jolo, Celebres [if portugal is still independent], or maybe part of Borneo such as Brunei itself)
They were quite desperate to enter the market in this part of the world, what with the Portuguese control of most trade routes to europe

What would happen to the OTL Manila-Acapulco trade if the Spanish were blocked from conquering any of Luzon, would they try to get Formosa instead?
