According to NFL Network's The Timeline special Last Day in LA, the OC was bankrupt in late 94. Leigh Steinberg said something about how they would have built a new stadium for the Rams if the bankruptcy didn't happen.
With the Rams staying in LA in early 95, I wonder if Oiler owner Bud Adams would have considered St. Louis as a relocation city. I don't think he had anything official done with Tennessee yet at that point.
Now, had Steinberg been successful enough to butterfly the Rams' staycation in St Louis, would the club have pursued a Hollywood Park stadium right away, or could they have explored Chavez Ravine as another option? How many more years did they have left in their lease with Anaheim?
Were Bob McNair, Leslie Alexander or Jim Crane in a position in the mid 90's to have attempted to buy the Oilers from Bud Adams to keep the team in Houston?
While we're at it, who could have been able to buy the Browns from Art Modell in '95? Larry Dolan perhaps? Or how about Alfred Lerner? Or maybe some young Wall Street guy with Ohio roots?
