WI: The Prince of Italy

How could Rodrigo and Cesare Borgia have conquered Italy entirely? It's important to remember that for this What If the Borgian dynasty doesn't need to last, just for a recognisable period of time every Italian state pay's taxes to, and recognises him as, Cesare Borgia, Prince of Italy.

I see someone has been playing Brotherhood.

Ryu might know the answer to your question.

Wasn't there a timeline on this forum where Cesare Borgia actually succeeded in becoming King of Italy? I remember a map linked to that timeline, but I can't remember how it was called nor who was the writer...

Why should he have played Brotherhood ONLY? :p

There's no other game save the AC series that has the Borgia as the villains. :D Good game.

Doubtful at a certain point the Borgias will draw the attention of great powers like France, (the crown of) Aragon and the Habsburg emperors, besides such a threat might be enough for a grand Italian coalition against Cesare. So IMO it will be hard, especially when he will have to face the larger Italian states at which point the foreign great powers with an interest in Italy (like the three great powers I mentioned) also will get involved. IMHO a lasting large Borgian state in central Italy would be decent result.

Agreed. The Borgias were essentially upstart parvenues from Aragon. Given they were around in a period of great foreign intervention into the penninsula, I can't see them uniting the country: the French and Spanish are going to be wrangling over Milan and Naples, and the Empire will certainly be drawn into the conflict as well. I agree that the Borgias could certainly carve out something in central Italy. Maybe with some timing we could see Cesare rule over Tuscany? Along with Romagna and Bologna it'd be a sizable state. But of course, they'd need to weather the storm of the Italian Wars...

Actually it was based off reading The Artist, The Philosopher and the Warrior by Paul Strathern. I am but a lowly Law student, who has not the fund to afford such a game, and my next paycheck is going towards Crysis 2.

But I digress.

Okay, so the Borgias get the attention of the Great Powers, but when? When/if they conquer Naples?

Didn't the Borjas invite the French farther south at one point? I used to have some knowledge of the Italian Wars but Brotherhood has swiss-cheesed my memory for what's real and what's Ubisoft fiction.
