WI: The Pilgrims Land in Maryland?

Pretty much as the tin says, what if the Pilgrims landed in OTL Maryland instead of New England? Assuming the Puritans later follow them to this area and the Dutch still settle on Manhattan, might this lead to New England being part of New Netherlands? I know that in OTL, the Dutch and New English had a disputed border with both attempting to settle in the Connecticut area and in Long Island.

The Pilgrim's lucked out with having Massasoit as the neighboring chief and having the English speaking Squanto as an advisor.

In this new location may they be less lucky? What were the tribes in the Maryland area like?

A balkanized America in this scenario seems interesting.

There were about 26 different tribes in Maryland prior to them achieving statehood. If I am not mistaken, there are only 6 remaining today. I don't recall reading about any of them being particularly hostile.

If the Pilgrims get in good with the Susquehannocks then, in my opinion, they should be alright. This particular tribe was quite large and friendly with the English.

At the very least, they're close to Jamestown

Depends where they land in Maryland?

Got the nice Eastern Shore (The Nanticoke), the more warlike ones to the north and west, and of course the Powhatan close to Virginia.

Of course Virginia may still and try annex their territory as they tried with MD in OTL
