WI the New York Stock Exchange is bombed?

I was wondering what would occur if a terrorist group or whoever detonated a large bomb in the NYSE.
How dependent is the economy on the stock exchange?
What would happen?

Considering everything is electronically stored, the only thing that would happen is severe property damage and loss of life. Even if you destroy the whole building, the stock exchange probably be running again within days from a different location. The worst that could happen is that they manage to set it back by a few days and kill some very important people.

Considerable short term disruption but there will be a contingency plan in place for such an eventuality. How effective the contingency plan is and how effectively the market can run from alternative location(s) is a different matter

On the other hand, imagine if this were to happen during the 1930s/40s/50s, before everything was digitized. I'm thinking maybe some domestic communist radicals in the early 30s or some insanely sucky Axis saboteurs in the 40s trying to cripple the American economy...unlikely I know, but then you might see some real damage.

The NYSE backs up all of their stuff to the CME in Chicago electronically and maintains data centers that could recreate the exchange in London and Tokyo

The Nasdaq and CME would pick up all the slack within 72 hours without too much difficulty... the SEC would call a halt to all trading for that same period to prevent panic selling and allow the alternate platforms to stand

symbolic damage only

Assuming that it's large enough to destroy it, aside from the technical aspect what will be the effect of losing all the people be? Now I know that a lot of trading is done outside the exchange but there's still a very large number of on the floor traders.
