First off i'd like to say that i'm aware a similar thread has existed, but i offer a specific POD. Let me explain a little better:

Me and my girlfriend are planning to write a story based around the idea of a group of Mongol women deciding to prove their worth in society by fighting to expand the empire (I'm not here to discuss how that could or couldn't have happened, it makes a good story :p). Now first of all, there are exactly 1,000 of these women warriors at this battle, it is to be assumed that they are slightly above average for Mongol warriors but not action heros.

Also, a plot element is that one of the women hears about the Kahn's death but hopes to keep the news under wraps until after the battle to stop the troops being rerouted back to the capital for a power-grab as happened is real life.

So let's assume that Hulagu Khan did NOT head about the great Khan's death so keeps his army ready for the battle. Secondly, let's assume that the Mongols had an additional 1,000 elite troops for the battle.

Lastly, i have NO knowlegde of the subject so won't be commenting, i'll just let you guys have at it. I'm more interested in the immediate effects of this battle than how it would have effected the here-and-now.

So, thank you and have at it! :D

EDIT:

Let's assume that because they're women the other soldiers refused them the right to ride horses and made them get their own weapons/armour so they would be under equipped, although it can be assumed that they would have been properly armed following the battle.
