WI the mid-engined digger happened sooner?

Pretty much what's on the tin.

The front-engined cars were a well-known hazard, and "Big Daddy" Don Garlits was the first to make it work. But, there were a number of earlier attempts, none a success. (Such as Steve Swaja's AA/Gas Wedge I in '63 or Roger Lindwall's TF/D Re-Entry in '66.)

So, WI somebody else made it work first? How much different would TF/D be?

Would anybody be alive today who got killed in a front-engined car? It seems very likely Mike Sorokin and John Mulligan wouldn't get killed in mid-engined cars.

Would it have changed NHRA's views on Altereds?

Would FC be mid-engined, too?

Have them designed as such from origin. Don't see americans doing it first, because in these year they were big about front engine/rwd v8 cars. Either italian / british / german or japanese. Italian lancia develop an earlier version of small sport car with afforable price and engine derived from ferrari/high performance at that time? ( wasn t there stratos and earlier ferrari dino derivative?)

Edit : have dino ferrari not get his sickness and survive or have porsche more interested/better in mid engines(914 was afforable but had anemic engines except the 6cyl).

I think you've completely missed the point...

Would make more sense in a road racing car hence why i mentionned what i mentionned in earlier post. Maybe have one of the 60s aftermarket cars specialist like shelby yenko etc builts some.

Have someone maybe drag race detomaso/ mclaren m6 gt(chevy engine) / gt40 (big ford engine in later version )or various other 60s mid engine cars.
