WI. The London Bombings had been Worse?

On the 7th July 2005 three bombs exploded in London. Three on the underground, at Kings Cross, Aldgate and Edware Road, and one on a bus in Tavistock Square. 52 people died (not counting the 4 bombers) and over 700 injured.

But what if the bombs had gone off 30 minutes before, more people on the Tube and the bomber on the bus had been on the bottom deck. Also if the bombs had contained better explosives than peroxide, maybe big enough the breach the tunnel walls?

First off, how many could have been killed and injured if the bombs had been big enough to breach the walls of the tunnels?

Second, would the government react any stronger than it did OTL?

Third, would Muslims be targeted much, more than they were?

And lastly would we see more armed police on the streets of Britain?

I have my own ideas, but over to you.

First off, how many could have been killed and injured if the bombs had been big enough to breach the walls of the tunnels?

Well the location of the bombs really depends on the effect. My knowledge of chemistry is limited at best but depending on the maximal effect that could be produced from such devices it may be possible to do serious damage to the tunnels but nothing major to the streets above in terms of damage. Though the areas above would be off limit to the public for some time. As for the bomb on the Piccadilly Line if the roof of the tunnel was destroyed that would through out a very important piece of the network and due to the location, would take quite a long time to repair (3 Months at most I would say). Meaning this would immediately lead to more deaths from the initial blasts and the increased time to get to the respective locations safely, many more will likely die from injuries.

Second, would the government react any stronger than it did OTL?
This would be almost certain but the extent I cannot say. This could be almost anything from a few additional paragraphs or longing periods of legal detainment.

Third, would Muslims be targeted much, more than they were?
Initially yes and this would certainly have increased support for anti-Islamist groups but today it would likely be only marginally different assuming history remains the same.

And lastly would we see more armed police on the streets of Britain?
This will occur but will be selective in location and also depends on what measures the government this time round introduces.

The Atocha bombings killed 191 persons through "mochilla bombas" - bombs in backpacks left by terrorists in trains.
Unlike 9/11 both attacks seems a little "forgotten" - did you ever see massive media coverage of the bombings anniversaries ?
